Created in collaboration with Rachel Rizzuto with support from the Jacob’s Pillow Ann and Weston Hicks Choreographic Fellowship, this solo marked both the beginning of the research process for Jack and Diane and a conceptual bridging of threes as both a non-binary, triangular structure and a musical structure (think 3 / 4 or 6 / 8 time).
Rachel’s virtuosic performance, which intertwines cacophonous singing with immensely physical and patterned dancing, references American icons from Cher to Graham.
The piece premiered in process at a culminating work-in-progress livestream in 2021.
